This is a presentation of some facts and background information on the disgraceful assault of the Zionist Army (’IDF’) on the people of Gaza, July, August 2014; provided by the social networking community.
After observing the ’Israel - Palestinian conflict’ for decades, we have come to the conclusion - that there is – on the side of the Israeli occupants (the government and its supporters) – no will and no desire to strive for a peaceful and equitable solution.

Such a solution would have to start with the Israeli admission of reality, esp. that the Zionists have been unjust and oppressive against the Palestinians for a long time and that they would need treat them as equals in future.
Of course, compared with the racism and supremacism of today’s Israel, this is a bold step, but there is no alternative. Bombs are no solution.
Remember: The Palestinian don’t have much to lose, but the Israelis would have so much to win! Not the least a life in peace with their neighbours.

NB: Much of the recent ill-advised Muslim(? this is not Islam) extremism (from the East to the West to the South) has been nourished by the non-healing, pestering wounds of occupied Palestine.

The irony is of course that the Israeli govm. is - in its own illegal manner - working for a 1-state situation in the area: But it will not be a Jewish state, relegating the rest to 2nd-class citizens (if not bombing them); but a state for both Jews, Christians and Muslims to live with equal rights, the sooner the better.

Even from within the Israeli government has surfaced criticism of this move:
Israeli Finance Minister Y. Lapid asserted Tuesday (and quoted in the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth) that the recent confiscation of 4,000 dunams of Palestinian lands in the southern West Bank would be harmful to Israel.
"The decisions of annexing lands for building (Jewish settlements) like the one announced on Sunday – what good does (it do) at this time?"

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said the international community would rather (have to) move to disarm Israel and also prevent the American administration from providing its army with weaponry, which according to him, is used in killing Palestinian children and women.
Hamas late on Saturday considered earlier statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he had to pull his troops out of the Gaza Strip as proof of Israel's defeat.
He had said that there was no reason to endanger Israeli troops if Israel could “crush” Hamas from the air.
"But the minute that was dealt with, we took them [the troops] out because I did not want the killing or kidnapping of our soldiers,” Netanyahu said.

Dahiya, which is the name of the doctrine, refers to a civilian neighborhood of Beirut that was leveled, utterly destroyed by Israel in the Second Lebanon War in 2006.

In Israel's war planning, the Dahiya doctrine refers to Israel's intentional and massive killing of civilians and destruction of civilian villages, the intentional disproportionate use of force constituting collective punishment of a population. Though it has faded somewhat from the headlines, Israel's war on Gaza is still going on, with a round of airstrikes that killed dozens this week. And how was this reported in the New York Times? As Hamas breaking a cease-fire agreement.
Instead of dwelling on this, the paper felt the need to reiterate that this was "a limited air campaign" that was avoiding "the large-scale collateral damage that has provoked international outrage." That assessment, in the reporter's own voice, stands in contrast to this: "The Gaza Health Ministry said Israeli airstrikes had killed at least 60 people since the collapse on Tuesday of cease-fire negotiations in Cairo."
One could just as easily write a piece about how a terrified and suffering civilian population has found itself facing another round of attacks, with dozens of new deaths in a matter of a couple of days. But that's not the story the Times wanted to tell. It wanted to let readers know that the new attacks are all Hamas' fault–but that Israel is being especially precise this time around.

I come from a racist home. If I get the chance in the army to shoot one of them, I won’t think twice. I’m ready to kill someone with my hands, and it’s an Arab. In my education I learned that ... their education is to be terrorists, and there is no belief in them. I live in an area of Arabs, and every day I see these Ishmaelites, who pass by the [bus] station and whistle. I wish them death.”

Why Israel’s bombardment of Gaza neighborhood left US officers ‘stunned’
According to this senior U.S. officer, who had access to the July 21 Pentagon summary of the previous 24 hours of Israeli operations, the internal report showed that 11 Israeli artillery battalions — a minimum of 258 artillery pieces, according to the officer’s estimate — pumped at least 7,000 high explosive shells into the Gaza neighborhood, which included a barrage of some 4,800 shells during a seven-hour period at the height of the operation. Senior U.S. officers were stunned by the report…
“The ground assault was poorly handled into eastern Gaza City,” an Israel civilian adviser to the IDF’s chief of staff said at the time. “The Hamas fighters showed an unexpected tenacity and were far more effective against our armored units than we’d anticipated.”

Retired Lt. Gen. Robert Gard: “That rate of fire over that period of time is astonishing. If the figures are even half right, Israel’s response was absolutely disproportionate.” … He added that even if Israeli artillery units fired guided munitions, it would have made little difference.
