Bismillahi Al-Rahmani Al-Rahim

When Ghusl Is Recommended

Q
Are there no other times when Ghusl is recommended except after washing a dead body and regaining sanity?

A
al-salamu `alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu

Yes. In Dalil Al-Talib sixteen are mentioned:
  • On Jumu`ah, for males attending the prayer
  • After washing a dead person
  • `Eid
  • For the eclipse prayer
  • For the drought prayer
  • When recovering from insanity
  • A woman with irregular vaginal bleeding, for each prayer
  • When entering the state of pilgrimage
  • When entering Mecca
  • When entering the sacred precinct
  • When standing on `Arafat (may Allah bless us with this!)
  • When making the visitation tawwaf
  • When making the farewell tawwaf
  • When staying overnight at Muzdalifah
  • When throwing the pebbles [at the Shayatin]
T ayammum can be made instead of there when there is need, and whenever wudu is recommended to make and there is an excuse not to do so.

And Allah knows best.
