Reading From the Mushaf During Prayer

M ay Allah reward the brother who sent the following regarding reading from
the mushaf during prayer:
you can find a reference in Manar al-sabeel. Under the section for the
Friday Prayer.
the matn reads as: There is no problem with delivering a sermon off of
papers.
the explanation reads as: Like the the recitation in the prayer from a
mushaf.
Ma sha Allah. This is an issue that many of the shorter books do not
cover. Even though Nail Al-Ma'arib is almost always more inclusive
of branch issues than Manar Al-Sabil, it does not include this. At
least not here. While many books list that it is acceptable to read the
khutbah from a piece of paper, almost none of them connect it to the issue
of reading from the mushaf during prayer. But the connection is explicitly
listed in Al-Iqna` (see Kashshaf Al-Qina 2:32, top).
This just goes to show how useful it is to keep an index on the inside
cover of the book for all issues that are mentioned in odd places.
