    The Thankfulness of the Holy Prophet & the Sahaba

    Narrated Al-Mughira:
    The Holy Prophet (saws) used to stand (in the prayer) or pray till both his feet or legs swelled. He
    was asked why (he offered such an unbearable prayer) and he said, "should I not be a
    thankful bondman?" (Bukhari, and others)

    Abu Qatada Ansari (Allah be pleased with him) reported that Allah's Massenger (may peace
    be upon him) was asked about fasting on Monday, whereupon he said: It is (the day) when I
    was born and revelation was sent down to me. (Muslim, with several chains)
