Disclaimer Perennialism

1. First of all it is Islam that reigns (see Sura 5:3).

2. Traditional Islam does not accept the notion that any religion beside Islam, and even less any man-made, invented belief system - could be equally valid paths to God, these are perennialist and misguided interpretations. Regarding the world-religions, their laws from pre-modernity may in some instances still reflect a sacred truth, even if they have been abrogated by the light of Islam.[1]

Two points to be kept in mind,
in the words of Muḥyiddīn Ibn `Arabi:

3. ”The religious laws are all lights, and the law of Muhammad ﷺ (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him!) among these lights is as the sun's light among the light of the stars…”

4. ”So all paths return to look to the Prophet's path ﷺ:
If the prophetic messengers had been alive in his time, they would have followed him just as their religious laws have followed his law.…”

Footnote

  1. Many of those laws cannot be relied on, because as time has passed, they have been altered many times.
