Unsurprisingly, those who love the supremacist, child-killing settler regime of Isra-l[1] routinely deny the accusations of genocide and warcrimes. As occupiers and oppressors of Palestinian lands (both Muslims and Christians) since 1948 they play the victim card and shout "Anti-Semitism" while most of them are not even Semites, but Europeans.


Germany was defeated by Allied forces in 1945, and in order to gain respectability among the victors and "to do good" to the once persecuted Jews, the first German leader and later Chancellor Angela Merkel imagined it necessary to direct German policies in line with the genocidal settler regime of Tel Aviv.[3]


The German leadership is well-informed about the Isralic injustices that are constantly inflicted on the Palestinians, but it choses to turn a blind eye to what is wrong and deeply unethical, and instead of learning from their horrible past, Germany pays reparations (for how long?), and provides diplomatic, as well as military support to the colonial supremacist Zionist entity.


These anti-Palestinian policy decisions which are in clear opposition to the ICJ and the ICC rulings will haunt the German ruling classes for a long time, and they already harm Germany's prestige and credibility worldwide.


These anti-Palestinian policies have shown the world the true character of German and most European ruling classes: To abolish the last remnants of democracy in Western countries even after the abominable genocide in Gaza and the ongoing terror in the West Bank in order to pander to the wishes of the Zionist hybris.

The Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention condemns the persistent efforts by several high-profile German civil society organizations to deny the ongoing genocide in Gaza and to disseminate disinformation and denialist narratives among German political decision-makers.


These efforts must be understood within the broader context of Germany’s uniquely close relationship with Israel, rooted in Germany’s historical responsibility for the Holocaust. In 2007, former Chancellor Angela Merkel first coined the term Staatsräson in this context, proclaiming Germany’s responsibility for the existence of Israel and its duty to defend it.

The term is understood as a guidance principle for German foreign policy and informs parliamentary decisions, arms exports, and diplomatic positioning. However, it has not found its way into German legislation and therefore entails no legal obligations from German leaders.                                                     


The Lemkin Institute of Genocide Prevention calls on public authorities in Germany to immediately halt all active financing, dissemination, and legitimation of genocide denialist propaganda masked as critical expertise. We further urge the German government to withdraw public funding and end privileged parliamentary access for organizations and initiatives engaged in genocide denial and the systematic discrediting of international legal institutions. We remind Germany and all its political bodies of their obligations under the Genocide Convention, including the duty to prevent and punish genocide and any forms of complicity. Above all, we call on the German state to end its complicity in the genocide against Palestinians, including through arms exports to and uncritical diplomatic support for the state committing genocide.

Background: @BMI_Bund head Alexander Dobrindt met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) via an international arrest warrant for "war crimes and crimes against humanity," and signed a far-reaching cyber and security pact. In this context, he referred to Israel as Germany's "Premium Partner." !

However, neither the widely documented violations of international law by Israeli security forces in the occupied territories, nor the described form of uncontrolled, AI-based mass killing of civilians, nor the fact that the Israeli Prime Minister is wanted by the International Criminal Court in The Hague on an international arrest warrant "for war crimes and crimes against humanity," seems to bother the German Federal Minister of the Interior and his ministry in the slightest in their cooperation with their "premium partner."

Objectives

According to the European Commission, the State of Israel is responsible for an unprecedented level of killing and injury of civilians, a large-scale displacement of population and the systematic destruction of hospitals and medical facilities in Gaza. [1] Israel also implemented a blockade of humanitarian aid that could amount to starvation as a method of war. Israel is in breach of multiple rules and obligations under international law and fails to prevent the crime of genocide as ordered by the International Court of Justice.[2]


Yet the European Union has still not suspended its association agreement with Israel, which is the cornerstone of EU-Israel bilateral trade, economic, and political cooperation.


EU citizens cannot tolerate that the EU maintains an agreement that contributes to legitimize and finance a State that commits crimes against humanity and war crimes.


Therefore, we call on the Commission to put forward the proposal to the Council for the full suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement.

The International Association of Genocide Scholars has declared Israel is committing both genocide and crimes against humanity in Gaza. 28 per cent of the organisation's 500 members took part in the vote, with 86 per cent of those voters agreeing that genocide is occurring.


Reactions to IAGS resolution on Gaza


Since the IAGS Gaza Resolution passed, there has been very broad interest by other scholars, from media outlets worldwide (e.g. here, here, here, here, and here), as well as at the United Nations. Many Executive Board members also spoke directly to international media regarding the resolution, including its process and outcome. For instance, in English (here, here, here, here), Arabic (here), French (here), German, and Spanish. This shows the important voice that IAGS has on the issue and reinforces the value of our association passing resolutions. While feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, there have also been attacks on social media as well as negative media coverage. As such broad attention is unusual, the IAGS EB would like to address some responses to the passing of the IAGS Gaza Resolution.
